The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza Goes "Over The Limit"

Jul 23, 2010

THE TONY DANZA TAPDANCE EXTRAVAGANZA kicks off the "Over The Limit" tour TONIGHT in Valparaiso, IN!  The month-long US tour sees Danza team up with As Blood Runs Black, Oceano, Arsonists Get All The Girls, and more.

Singled out early on by Alternative Press Magazine as “one of the underground’s fiercest live acts,” The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza cut its teeth in the mid 00’s, touring with the likes of The Red Chord, The Acacia Strain, A Life Once Lost, Cattle Decapitation, Misery Index, Despised Icon, and Beneath The Massacre. With a rep for dazzling chops and planet-smashing heaviness, balanced by a healthy sense of humor, the Tennessee band released two albums - 2005’s self-titled debut and 2007’s Danza II: Electric Boogaloo - honing a style that would help pave the way for the current explosion of forward-thinking aggressive bands.

July 6, 2010, Danza - now comprised of founder Jessie Freeland on vocals, longtime multi-instrumentalist Josh Travis on strings, and new recruit Mike Bradley on drums - returned with its long-awaited third album, Danza III: The Series of Unfortunate Events.  MetalSucks.net calls Danza III "a discordant mind melter," anchored by gargantuan crushers like "W.A.L.L.S." and "I Am Sammy Jankis."  Witness Danza live and see for yourself!

TODAY IS THE DAY Signs with Black Market Activities, Gears Up for US Tour

Jul 22, 2010

Black Market Activities welcomes the legendary Today Is The Day to its roster.

Led by “charismatic cult leader” Steve Austin, Today Is The Day is renowned as one of the most unique and influential bands of the past 15 years.  Austin’s iconic presence and fearless brand of metal, noise, psychedelia, and rock have earned the band worldwide acclaim.

Today Is The Day has toured the world with the likes of Motorhead, Melvins, Morbid Angel, Converge, Napalm Death, and Neurosis and has released eight studio albums on labels including Amphetamine Reptile, Relapse, and SuperNova.  Ex-members of Today Is The Day include Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher of Mastodon.  As a producer, Steve Austin has recorded albums by Lamb Of God, Converge, Deadguy, and many more.

The New York Times has hailed Today Is The Day with the following description: "Proud noisemakers for 15 years now, Today Is The Day starts with brutal blues-rock and completely disfigures it with sheets of distortion and the bestial ravings of Steve Austin."

Alternative Press Magazine has offered this praise: "Today Is The Day founder Steve Austin has functioned as a cultish Robert Fripp/John McLaughlin hybrid; a noise-rock auteur known as much for his off-kilter, damaging riffs and vocals as for his soaring David Gilmour leads."

Black Market Activities will release Today Is The Day’s ninth studio album in 2011.

August 21, 2010, Today Is The Day kicks off its first US tour in two years.  The tour includes dates with Unsane, Keelhaul, and A Storm Of Light, as well as an appearance at the AmRep 25th Anniversary Bash, alonsgide Melvins, Boss Hog, and Hammerhead.  The live Today Is The Day line-up consists of frontman Steve Austin, bassist Ryan Jones (Wetnurse) and drummer Curran Reynolds (Wetnurse).

Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza reveals Danza III Cover Art via Noisecreep

May 27, 2010

THE TONY DANZA TAPDANCE EXTRAVAGANZA Reveals Danza III Cover Art

The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza has unveiled the cover art for its forthcoming album, Danza III: The Series of Unfortunate Events, via a video clip posted today on NoiseCreep.com:

http://www.noisecreep.com/2010/05/27/the-tony-danza-tapdance-extravaganza-danza-iii-album-art-premiere/

The Danza III album art was created by Michael Windsor, an award winning designer and art director at Knopf/Doubleday Publishing. Windsor has worked on book covers for numerous titles including The Da Vinci Code and The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, as well as The Dexter series of books by Jeff Lindsay. He has also created album art and shirt designs for bands such as The Red Chord, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Pig Destroyer.

Danza frontman Jessie Freeland describes the Danza III art:

"The Danza III album art shows a series of complex machines that trigger the ‘series of unfortunate events’ that the album title refers to. Michael Windsor basically came up with the idea. We had complete faith in him to come up with whatever he wanted for us. The concept behind the art is an arrangement of old Victorian style machines, where each machine creates a domino effect that triggers all of the machine in the series... with an outcome that completely destroys everything!!!"

Danza III hits stores July 6 on Black Market Activities. Freeland describes the album:

"Lyrically, Danza III's themes are exactly what the title suggests: a chronicle of unfortunate events, personal, social, political, and global. Musically, we see it as an accumulation of Danza I and Danza II combined. We spent a lot of time structuring the album with three main musical elements: tech, groove, and ambience."

Singled out early on by Alternative Press Magazine as “one of the underground’s fiercest live acts,” The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza cut its teeth in the mid 00’s, touring with the likes of The Acacia Strain, A Life Once Lost, Cattle Decapitation, Misery Index, Despised Icon, and Beneath The Massacre. With a rep for dazzling chops and planet-smashing heaviness, balanced by a healthy sense of humor, the Tennessee band honed a style that would help pave the way for the current explosion of forward-thinking aggressive bands.

Danza - now comprised of founder Jessie Freeland on vocals, longtime multi-instrumentalist Josh Travis on strings, and new recruit Mike Bradley on drums - will be on tour throughout 2010 in support of Danza III.

Animosity Disbands

Oct 21, 2009

We are sad to report that Animosity has broken up. The band had not toured since the end of 2008, so we had our suspicions that this might be coming. Formed in 2000, the band has released albums with us, Tribunal Records and Man Alive.

Frontman Leo Miller has provided us with the following:

“You have never seen us rest this long. For those of you wondering about Animosity, you are correct to have assumed that we disbanded. It has been nearly a year since all five of us were in a room (or the same state) together. In this time, we have written zero songs and played zero shows. In short, nothing happened which I mean to say plainly and clearly. We are all still alive and friends, but following our last tour we just did nothing band related. Many of us grew up in this band, and for me personally, Animosity was somehow prioritized over everything including my very own life. This band formed our communities, relationships, experiences and the lens through which we view the world. Eight years later, I look back to being 14 years old playing Animosity shows in garages and backyards and I can honestly say that our musical and experiential goals have been exceeded in ways that once seemed impossible to me. If you haven't gotten enough of Animosity, please rest assured that we have.”

“This is not to say, that everyone is gone from music. In the time since our last show, Navene finished his spectacular debut solo album called Fleshrot ? dementia/dyslexia. Navene wrote played and recorded all the music himself and features beastly vocals from Jonny Davy. Check out the project here and stay posted for album release info. Also, Navene has teamed up with Tosin Abasi and is drumming in their new band Animals As Leaders. Chase also has a new band called Son of Arelius from which you can expect a full-length album out soon. New music from Evan and Frank can be anticipated in various different forms. As for me, I moved out east to study the environment.”

“To Animosity fans worldwide, thank you for doing this with us, it was an awesomely epic journey. Be well!”

The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza Update

Sep 24, 2009

The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza announce “Danza III: The Series Of Unfortunate Events”

Murfreesboro, TN experimental metal act, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, has announced the title of their next album, Danza III: The Series Of Unfortunate Events. The band will be recording throughout November at Anthem Productions with Jeremiah Scott and Steve Blackmon.

Danza III's these is exactly what it suggests, it will chronicle unfortunate events - personal, social, political, global, etc. “We see it as an accumulation of Danza I and II combined. We spent a lot of time structuring the album with three main musical elements; those being tech, groove, and ambiance. It's a long, pissed off and sad emotional roller coaster.” Jessie Freeland and Josh Travis

Song titles so far include Passenger 57, I Am Sammy Jankis, and Yippie-Ky-Yay-Mother******. Fans will be able to check out Yippie-Ky-Yay as early as next week on the band's myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/tonydanzatapdanceextravaganza. Keep your eyes on their myspace for more updates on the record as they become available.

Danza also announces: “We are sad to inform everyone that Layne Meylain and Mike Butler are no longer a part of this project. There is no bad blood between any of us, and we are extremely proud of them for taking on their responsibilities and continuing with their life endeavors. They will be sorely missed,as they continue to push us in finishing this album and keep Danza going.” - Jessie Freeland and Josh Travis

Black Market Activities Reveals the_Network Album Details, Unveils New Track

Jul 30, 2009

Black Market Activities proudly reveals its next release: Bishop Kent Manning, the staggering second album by the_Network, out September 15 on BMA.

Produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge, Trap Them) at Godcity Studio and mastered by Nick Zampiello (Torche, Unsane) at New Alliance, Bishop Kent Manning is a concept album that follows the epic story of a corrupt televangelist's decline. Opening with the desperate cry, “I just got caught blood-redhanded selling absolution for a lion's share,” the album tells its tale through ten tracks that veer seamlessly from jagged aggro chaos to haunting melody and back again. Inspired by the likes of Coalesce and Botch, Bishop Kent Manning is an album of anthems -- both complex and simplistic, atonal and melodic, it's all from the gut and it's all punk rock.

To celebrate the upcoming release of Bishop Kent Manning, Black Market Activities unveils “You Fucking Fakes,” a song that embodies the spirit of the new album and gives a taste of how far the_Network has evolved. Stream “You Fucking Fakes,” here:

http://www.myspace.com/thenetworkmetal

And read an exclusive excerpt from the short story written by the_Network guitarist Kevin Howley to accompany the album, here:

http://decibelmagazine.com/Content.aspx?ncid=320937

Bishop Kent Manning's full tracklisting is as follows:

1) From Holy Water To Holy Wars

2) Following And Failing

3) Your Own Personal Time Bomb

4) Service With A Smile

5) Telethons For The Rich

6) Paranoid Deserter

7) Easter Just Stopped Showing Up

8) Corpse Paint

9) You Fucking Fakes

10) Kent Manning

Look for the_Network on tour in the US throughout the fall in support of Bishop Kent Manning. Renowned as champions of the “do-it-yourself, eat-shit mentality,” the_Network has already toured Australia, England, Scotland, and Puerto Rico, all within the past year.
